Rodeo China – Colorado 4-H goes to Beijing
Twenty Colorado 4-H members have been selected to participate in a historic event in Beijing, China in May 2012. This notable event will feature an eight-day professional rodeo to be held from May 18-25, at the Bird’s Nest National Arena (site of the 2008 Olympic Games). The Colorado 4-H program has been asked to be part of this effort to introduce the people of China to the culture of the American West through the art and science of rodeo.
The Colorado 4-H program, Colorado FFA, and the National Little Britches Rodeo Association (NLBRA) have been asked to enlist youth from their respective organizations to travel to China for the event. The youth component of this project will directly involve American youth teaching rodeo events and livestock handling principles to approximately 3,000 Chinese youth.
The 20 4-H members chosen to help conduct this ground-breaking international event were selected from more than 120 applicants from 38 counties across the state.
