Dog Project

This project is for member’s ages 8-18 years old. This project is designed for members who have little to no experience. Members will accomplish the following learning experiences:

  • Learn what kind of dog would be best for you and your family
  • How much training you want to give it
  • Obedience training
  • Learn how to train a dog to obey certain beginning and novice level commands such as heel, sit, down, stand for examination, recall, finish and the figure eight
  • Investigate dog breed origins
  • Find out why dogs are neutered or spayed
  • Compare dog foods
  • Learn how to communicate about dogs
  • Advanced training
  • Learn about “alpha dog” concept
  • Learn about dogs that help people
  • How to do a budget
  • How to conduct an experiment on a dog’s sense of smell
