Unit 3 :: Intermediate Leather Carving
This unit is for member ages 8-18 years old. Members will accomplish the following learning experiences:
- Practice skills learned in previous units
- Learn one or more new skills
- Keep a record of project costs and experiences

Colorado State Fair and Local County Fair Exhibit Requirements
Project Exhibit Rules for All Units
- Put name, age, and county on back of exhibit board or on tag attached to individual exhibit articles.
- Indicate in record whether articles are made from kit or if self-cut and designed by the member.
- A set means a number of things of the same kind that belong, or are used together, (i.e. six matching coasters, belt and buckle with matching designs, etc.)
- Advanced leathercraft members may exhibit in more than one of the classes, provided the member is enrolled in and has completed the requirements of the unit. Example: Units 4-7.
Unit 3 :: Intermediate Leather Carving
Exhibit will consist of the following:
- Completed e-record presented in a sturdy binder/notebook.
- One completed carved article or set which includes at least one of the major skills: carved conventional design, inverted carving techniques, beginning dying, simple molding and shaping or hand stitching.
Note: No pictorial (relating to, composed of, or shown by pictures) carvings. No solid color dyeing or shading will be permitted.
