White House Internship Program

The White House Internship Program offers an excellent opportunity to serve our President and explore public service. They are seeking exceptional candidates to apply for this highly competitive program. In addition to typical office duties, interns attend weekly lectures, tours, and complete an intern service project.

Interns may serve a term in the fall, spring or summer. Every candidate must be a United States citizen, enrolled in a college or university, and at least 18 years of age. An application and additional information about the program can be found at http://www.whitehouse.gov/government/wh-intern.html.

Strong applications exhibit:

  • sound academic credentials
  • a history of community involvement and leadership
  • solid verbal/written communication skills
  • a demonstrated interest in public service

Applications should be submitted to Karen Race, Deputy Director and Intern Coordinator, White House Personnel, at intern_application@whitehouse.gov on or before the following deadlines:

  • October 13, 2006 for SPRING 2007 — (January 9 to May 11, 2007)
  • March 6, 2007 for SUMMER 2007 — (May 22 to August 24, 2007)

2006 Fall Leader’s Forum

The Colorado 4-H Leaders’ Council is hosting its annual Fall Forum in Morgan County at the Morgan County Fairgrounds in Brush Oct. 6-8. Attached is a registration form and other information regarding this event. Registration fee, if paid by Sept. 15, is $50 and includes speakers, workshops and most meals. For an additional $25 you can sign up for the Cajun Boil on Friday evening! The two primary volunteer leader training events of the year take place at Fall Forum and the Leadership Development Conference in late January. Fall Forum rotates around the state each year and LDC is always held in Denver. Please help promote these as the premier training events for volunteers to get up-to-date information on new projects and resources. — Ellen Butler

National Gardening Association Healthy Sprouts Awards

This program invites applications from schools or organizations who plan to garden in 2007. The maximum award is a $200 gift certificate. Your group must have at least 15 children between the ages of three and 18 to apply. The deadline for submitting an application is Oct. 15, 2006.
